3-day Durban, Culture and Wildlife Accommodated

Departing Durban, we drive through sugar cane fields and the town of KwaDukuza place of the lost person - due to the labyrinth of traditional huts in the area. Our next stop is St Lucia - the gateway to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park proclaimed a World Heritage site in 1999. We join a boat cruise on the estuary to view the variety of bird species, hippo pods and crocodile lazing on sandy banks. After our cruise, we continue to a Private Game Reserve, where we settle in and enjoy an afternoon open 4x4 safari to search for the resident wildlife.

Rising early, we set off to the nearby Hluhluwe Game Reserve in our open 4x4 safari vehicle in search for the Big 5 and other amazing wildlife that inhabit the park, such as giraffe, zebra and kudu, to name just a few. We return in the late afternoon to camp for a hearty dinner around the fire in the open Boma under the African starry skies.

After an early morning game drive and breakfast at camp, we continue our journey towards Durban. En-route, we visit a traditional Zulu village where we are treated to a glimpse of this age-old culture with authentic tribal dancing and a visit to a Sangoma diviner. We then travel to Mtunzini, best-known as a bird watchers paradise - where we may view some of South Africas renowned birds of prey, such as the palm nut vulture and fish-eagle. We take short walks along the Umlalazi River, the estuary and an optional boat-ride - weather and time permitting. Our tour ends in Durban.
